School Profiles | Parent & Community Impact

As we explore the country with a film crew in tow, our next stop is Casa Grande. With all of its middle schools and now 4 of its elementary schools implementing 7 Mindsets, Casa Grande ESD is an emerging national model for how social-emotional learning (SEL) can impact whole communities when school leaders collaborate using our systemic framework for student success.

We Are Connected

Michael Cruz is a Middle School Computer Sciences Teacher who created a workshop for his peers on how to teach their social emotional learning lessons more effectively, with less prep time. Joe Martinez is Villago Middle’s College & Career Readiness Counselor who has championed the 7 Mindsets throughout Casa Grande. When our team visited Cactus Middle School for a community open house, Cruz and Martinez volunteered to come over from their respective schools and teach the 7 Mindsets to a group of students he had never met before. That month’s mindset was perfect for this challenge: We Are Connected.
