Sharing Moments that Matter – The Attitude of Gratitude Challenge
By Jeff Waller, Co-Author and Co-Creator of the 7 Mindsets | November 20, 2018
ENERGY FLOWS WHERE ATTENTION GOES!! Its the things that we focus on that expand in our life. If we focus on the negative, it is negative things that will become the foundation of growth in our lives. However, if we use the positive as the underpinning of our thinking, our joy and happiness will grow.
Why does the negative tend to stay at the forefront in our minds? Negativity just has a bigger impact on our brains. And that is due to the brain’s “negativity bias”: Our brain is simply built with a greater sensitivity to unpleasant news. The bias is so automatic that it can be detected at the earliest stage of the brain’s information processing.
If we want to be happier, we must the change the narrative of our minds. Research has shown the incredible positive impact of regularly practicing gratitude. At the University of Pennsylvania, for example, they showed that keeping a daily gratitude journal has a greater impact on our mood than the best in modern medication. In fact, they somehow ascertained that regularly practicing gratitude would add 7 years to your life, a result better than regular exercise or quitting smoking.
Our team wants to help infuse grace back into the world. We want to help “change the narrative” by keeping in mind that “The best way to multiply your happiness is to share it with others”.
As we approach this holiday season we wanted to take time to reflect on Moments That Mattered most to us. Use our “Moments That Matter” Facebook frame!
